TILAK ROAD: Sangam XI trounced Thuderkatz 2-1 in a thrilling encounter in the PDFA Senior Division Super League matches played at SP College Ground on Thursday.
Raju Nikam, Sangam XI striker, produced an exquiste kick that zoomed past the ears of diving Thuderkatz goalkeeper. He braced up the pace in the next couple of minutes, putting tremendous pressure on his opponents.
He finally succeeded in putting yet another goal for his team in 25th minute.
In the second half, however, Thunderkatz (Elton Lima) overcame their spate of bad luck and romped home a consolation goal in the 40th minute.
Meanwhile, Poona Socials beat Ghorpadi Tamil United 1-0 in another match. Yaqub Sheikh scored the goal in 20th minute.
At Range Hills Ground, both the matches ended in a one-all draw.
While Khadki Blues drew with CMS Falcons, Indrayani with BEG, Kirkee.
Both the matches could not evoke interest as the proceedings became drab in later stages of the matches.
The teams were unable to trap the ball neatly when their was an opportunity to breeze in the goal. They also failed to run directly at defenders causing problems to them.
RESULTS: Sangam XI 2 (Raju Nikam 2) bt Thunderkatz 1 (Elton Lima); Poona Socials 1 (Yaqub Sheikh); Khadki Blues 1 (Javed Sheikh) drew with CMS Falcons 1 (C C Mathews self goal); Indrayani 1 (Manoj Balkishan) drew with BEG, Kirkee 1 (N L Kunji).
