Deccan ‘A’ to take on Parshuramians in finals

WANOWRIE: Deccan ‘A’ and Parshuramians sailed into the finals of the nine-a-side Darius Football Tournament played at Mathurawala Ground here on Monday.

Deccan ‘A’ beat Poona Police 3-2 in a close encounter. All the three goals for the Deccans came in the first half and Poona Police posted two late goals.

A brilliant goal from Sharad Pawar in the 10th minute gave Deccan ‘A’ the lead. Soon after in the 14th, Amit Navalli posted the second after exchanging passes with his partners in the scoring zone. The third came in the 19th when Mangesh Padumale crunched in breaking the Poona Police defense.

Poona Police then bounced back in the second half. They launched a late attack netting two goals. Bapu Raikar scored the first goal for them in the 24th and the second in the 34th by Rajesh Manglikar.

In yet another semi-finals, Parshuramians thrashed Thundercats 1-0, thanks to the self-goal scored by Umresh on a powerful kick of Rahul Gadage.
