Sudden-death goal gives Parshuramians the Trophy

WANOWRIE: Niranjanpurkar scored the magical goal for Parshuramians in the sudden death to lift the Darius Irani Nine-a-Side Football Tournament crushing Deccan ‘A’ 7-6 in a thrilling encounter at Mathurawala Ground on Tuesday.

At the end of the match, both teams were level at two goals each. Parshuramians scored their two goals in the first half and Deccan ‘A’ two in the second.

The two early goals - first in the 5th minute (Rahul Ghadage) and second in 7th (Abhishek Wakankar) - by Parshuramians -- did a world of good for the team’s confidence. They dominated the first half with better game.

Deccan ‘A’ could easily had gone on defensive after conceding two goals. They, however, came out all guns blazing in the second by putting their past behind.

First they fortified their defense and slowly unleashed their attacking game towards the end. The strategy worked and were successful in floating in two goals.

After Bharat Pirole had put the first for Deccan ‘A’, Amit Navale kept the team’s hope alive by netting in the equalizer.

In penalty shootouts, Rohit Ghadage, Abhishek Wakankar, Rahul Ghadage, Ajit Korage and Niranjanpurkar scored for Parshuramians and Prashant Pardeshi, Chetan Kamble, Fiaz Razzaq and Amit Navale for Deccan ‘A’.
